<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002 - -20- <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS REVISING AND UPDATING <br />CHAPTER 14, BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS, <br />OF THE CITY CODE; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City currently uses the 1994 edition of the Standard Building Code as its authority for regulating <br />construction. <br /> <br />2. The nation's major building code agencies have recently merged their codes into one set of international <br />codes so that regulatory authorities and builders will have one set of codes to follow, regardless of the <br />project location. <br /> <br />3. In the 2001 Texas legislative session, the Texas Legislature adopted the International Residential Code, <br />the International Energy Code, and the National Electric Code as state standards. <br /> <br />4. The City wishes to adopt these codes, and to make changes to the codes to reflect the unique needs of the <br />City. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 14, Buildings and Building Regulations, of the City Code is repealed, and the following <br />is adopted in its place: <br /> <br />Chapter 14 <br />BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS <br /> <br />ARTICLE 1. IN GENERAL <br /> <br />Sec. 14.001. Definitions. <br /> <br />International Code means any code published by the International Code Council, Inc. <br /> <br />ICC means the International Code Council, Inc. <br /> <br />SBCCI means the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.002 Adoption of codes. <br /> <br />(a) The following codes are adopted to govern construction and construction-related activities: <br /> <br />(1) International Building Code 2000 Edition, including Appendixes C, E, F, I, and J. <br /> <br />(2) International Property Maintenance Code 2000 Edition. <br /> <br />C:\TEMP\bldg code 2-13-02 inc. doc <br /> <br />1 <br />
