In cases of conflicts between a provision of this Code and these adopted codes, the <br />provision of this Code will take precedence. Otherwise, all structures shall be designed, built, and <br />maintained in accordance with these adopted codes. <br /> <br />(c) Amendments to these adopted codes can be found in the applicable sections. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.003. Building inspection division. <br /> <br />The building inspection division is established within the planning and development services <br />department. This division will be supervised by the building official. The building official is appointed <br />by the director of planning and development services. The building official may designate a person <br />to perform the duties and exercise the authority of the building official during the official's absence. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.004. Restrictions on employees. <br /> <br />(a) In addition to the restrictions contained in the city Code of Ethics and employee handbook, <br />employees of the building inspection division may not have a financial interest in any construction <br />activity within the city limits or the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The term "construction activity" <br />includes: <br /> <br />(1) The preparation of plans, specifications or cost estimates for any construction work; <br /> <br />(2) The furnishing of labor, materials or supplies for any construction work; <br /> <br />(3) The provision of maintenance or repair services, or replacement parts, supplies, equipment <br />or appliances for any existing structure; <br /> <br />(4) The provision of construction consulting or project management services; and <br /> <br />(5) The provision of real estate inspection services. <br /> <br />C:\TEMP\bldg code 2-13-02 inc. doc <br /> <br />2 <br />
