<br />(3) The granting of the variance will be in general harmony with the purposes of this article <br />and will not be materially detrimental to the persons using the structure or electrical system, to <br />adjacent property, or to the public welfare in general; and <br /> <br />(4) The variance applied for does not depart from this article any more than is required because <br />of the special circumstances or conditions. <br /> <br />If a variance is not granted, the applicant or permit holder shall remove or remedy all affected work. <br /> <br />(d) The board may recommend to the city council amendments to this article. <br /> <br />(e) The board may promulgate rules governing its meetings and proceedings, subject to this article. <br />The board may hold one regular meeting each calendar month. In addition, special meetings may be <br />called by the chair. The board will hear any citizen, resident or licensed electrician who comes before <br />the board during any session. Persons desiring a hearing before the board may be placed on the agenda <br />by notifying the building official at least seven days before a scheduled meeting. Persons not on the <br />agenda will be restricted to five minutes each for their presentations. Board members shall only <br />discuss topics that are on the agenda. <br /> <br />Sees. 14.323-14.345. Reserved. <br /> <br />DIVISION 4. ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR <br /> <br />Sec. 14.346. Qualifications and appointment. <br /> <br />The building official will appoint the electrical inspector. The building official will serve as the chief <br />electrical inspector. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.347. Duties. <br /> <br />The electrical inspector has the duty and authority to: <br /> <br />(1) Enforce this article and bring before the electrical board complaints against persons who <br />violate any sections of this article; <br /> <br />(2) Enter any building or premises at any reasonable time, with the knowledge of the owner <br />or custodian, to exmnine any electrical wiring or installation of electrical wiring, fixtures or <br />equipment; <br /> <br />(3) Order the electric service disconnected when improper or defective wiring exists or where <br />electrical construction or equipment has been installed without a permit, only after notifying the <br />responsible parties and giving them sufficient time to correct the problem; <br /> <br />(4) Order compliance with this article where a change of use occurs in a building which <br />requires changes or alterations to existing wiring; <br /> <br />(5) Disconnect electrical service in an emergency when necessary for safety of persons or <br />property or when electrical equipment may interfere with the work of the fire department; <br /> <br />C:\TEMP\bldg code 2-13-02 inc.doc <br /> <br />26 <br />
