<br />Sec. 14.402. Qualifications for license. <br /> <br />(a) Master electrician. A person applying for a master electrician's license shall pass the SBCCI or <br />ICC standard master electrician exam and shall either have five years' experience as a licensed <br />journeyman working as an electrician under the direct supervision of a master electrician or equivalent <br />verifiable experience or two years experience as a master electrician or equivalent. A person may <br />obtain a master electrician license without passing an examination if he holds an equivalent license <br />in a reciprocating jurisdiction under section 14.407 and has five years experience as a licensed <br />journeyman working as an electrician under the direct supervision of a master electrician or equivalent <br />verifiable experience or two years experience as a master electrician or equivalent. <br /> <br />(b) Journeyman electrician. A person applying for a journeyman electrician's license shall pass the <br />SBCCI or ICC standard journeyman electrician exam and shall either have four years experience as <br />a licensed apprentice or shall hold a journeymall1icense in another jurisdiction. A person may obtain <br />a journeyman electrician's license without passing an examination ifhe holds an equivalent license <br />in a reciprocating jurisdiction under section 14.407. <br /> <br />(c) Residential wireman electrician. <br /> <br />(1) A person applying for a residential wireman electrician's license shall pass the SBCCI <br />standard residential wireman exam and have two years documented experience as an apprentice <br />electrician. He shall also be at least 18 years of age, and have a high school diploma or aGED. A <br />person may obtain a residential wireman electrician's license without passing an examination if he <br />holds an equivalent license in a reciprocating jurisdiction under section 14.407 and has two years <br />experience as a residential wireman. <br /> <br />(2) A residential wireman shall work for or under the general supervision of a master <br />electrician, can only perform electrical work on one- and two-fmnily dwellings, and Calmot hold <br />himself out as being qualified to contract for electrical work. <br /> <br />(d) Maintenance electrician. A person applying for a maintenance electrician's license shall pass the <br />SBCCI standard maintenance electrical exam. <br /> <br />(e) Apprentice electrician. A person applying for an apprentice electrician's license shall be at least <br />16 years old. <br /> <br />(f) Master sign electrician. A person applying for a master sign electrician license shall pass the <br />SBCCI standard master sign electrician exam and shall have five years experience as a licensed <br />journeyman working under the direct supervision of a master sign electrician or equivalent verifiable <br />experience or two years experience as a master sign electrician or equivalent. A person may obtain <br />a master sign electrician's license ifhe holds a license in a reciprocating jurisdiction under section <br />14.407 and has five years experience as a licensed journeyman working under the direct supervision <br />of a master sign electrician or equivalent verifiable experience or two years experience as a master <br />sign electrician or equivalent. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.403.
