This agreement is entered into by and between the city of San Marcos/San Marcos <br />Police Department, 2300 lli-35 South, San Marcos, Texas 78666, here after SMPD and Gary Job Corps, <br />San Marcos, Texas 78666. <br /> <br />1. The administrators of Gary Job Corps Community have established a Community support <br />program. A request from the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) was submitted to Gary Job <br />Corps for a specified parcel of land to be utilized as a multi-jurisdictional training facility. <br /> <br />2. The specific use of the land has been described as a firearms training complex with multiple uses <br />for different training needs of area law enforcement agencies and support of the Gary Job Corps <br />Security and Corrections vocational programs. <br /> <br />3. It is to the benefit of Gary Job Corps Security & Corrections Officer trainees to use the firearms <br />training facility to receive actual live fire training and qualification experience. In addition, train <br />students in the safety procedures utilized with firearms, the proper use and care of firearms. The <br />students selected to train in the Security and/or Corrections will be supervised by Gary Job Corps <br />training staff or SMPD. These staff will be certified firearms instructor( s) by the Texas <br />Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). <br /> <br />4. SMPD will benefit from making their firearms training facility available to Security & <br />Corrections Officer trainees of Gary Job Corps. SMPD will gain valuable experience in the use <br />of trainees while contributing to the educational and practical experience of future Security & <br />Corrections Officers. <br /> <br />II. UNDERSTANDING. The parties acknowledge and agree to the following: <br /> <br />1. Gary Job Corps expressly grants permission to SMPD for the use of a 65 acre tract of land, to be <br />identified by the parties by map or metes and bounds description, out of the 196.959 acre tract <br />depicted on the attached Exhibit A as Tract V, for the construction, operation and maintenance of <br />a law enforcement training facility. <br /> <br />2. While training at the SMPD firearms facility, the Security & Corrections Officers will be under <br />the supervision of SMPD training facility officials for the purpose of overall performance and <br />safety. Security & Corrections Officer trainees will be under the direct supervision of Gary Job <br />Corps firearms instructor(s), and subject to, and required to abide by all facility rules and <br />applicable regulations. <br /> <br />3. There will be no expense to SMPD for Security & Corrections trainees who participate in the <br />program other than expenses incidental to their supervision. <br /> <br />4. This program will not result in nor is it meant to interrupt or impair SMPD contracts for service <br />with other agencies. <br /> <br />5. SMPD specifically reserves the right to refuse entry or use of its firearms or other adjunct <br />facilities, (with cause) of any Security & Corrections Officer trainee so designated by Gary Job <br />Corps. <br /> <br />Operated by the Management & Training Corporation/ ATSI for the D.S Department of Labor <br />
