Exhibit E

SOUTHSIDE COM:M1JNlTY CENTER

History and purpose:

Southside Community Center began in 1927 in a one-room store building at 120 S.
Austin St (now LBJ Dr). The center has moved several times, and in 1947 the property at
518 S. Guadalupe St. was purchased,

Throughout the years, the workers at Southside have tried to correlate their work with the
changing and expanding needs of the community. Our basic philosophy is "to be aware
of the constantly changing needs of the neighborhood and to take responsibility for
meeting such needs through the establishment of direct services or through cooperative
action with other human service agencies' to provide experiences leading toward the
fulfillment of the individual's and community's life regardless of age, background,
beliefs or capabilities; to permeate understanding among varying groups; to strengthen
family life and maintain a close relationship with the neighborhood"

Mission Statement:

To take responsibility for meeting the needs of the community through the establishment
of direct services or through cooperative action with other community groups; to provide
experiences leading toward the fulfillment of the individual's and community's life
regardless of age, background, belief or capabilities, To permeate understanding among
varying groups, to strengthen family life and maintain a close relationship with the
community served.

Goals of the Agency:

Meeting the needs of the individual or families by helping find resources for proper
medical care, food, and shelter. Providing resources and/or a safe environment
temporarily in crisis enables them to work out of their situation and become more
proactive in dealing with their other essential needs.

To meet our goals the center:
. Establishes direct services for assistance to the poor.
. Coordinates services for more effective use of resources.
. Protects the clients self-determination, regardless of age, background, capabilities
or beliefs.
. Increase awareness and understanding in the community in regards to the needs of
the poor.

Agency Programs:

. Housing Rehabilitation: Youth from across the country attend a summer camp
to help in the renovation or repair on homes of disadvantaged families. The
program provides home repairs that are vitally important to the clients we serve.
This program continues to help supply families with safe and secure dwellings,

03/22/02
