<br />Board in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins Street, in the City, in accordance <br />with the Election Code. Early votes shall be counted at the central counting station. The Early <br />V oting Ballot Board shall perform in accordance with applicable provisions of the Election Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 10. An electronic voting system, as the term is defined in the Texas Election <br />Code, shall be utilized in connection with the election. This system shall be utilized for all early <br />voting as well as for all precinct voting conducted on election day. Ramona Brown is appointed as <br />programmer, and she shall prepare a program for the automatic tabulating equipment. Ample <br />voting equipment shall be provided for early voting and in each of the various precincts on <br />election day. The central counting station is established as the City Attorney's Office, San Marcos <br />City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins Street, San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />SECTION 11. The City Council of the City shall, by resolution, appoint the Early Voting <br />Ballot Board, a Presiding Judge of the Central Counting Station, a Tabulation Supervisor of the <br />Central Counting Station, and a Central Counting Station Manager, and any and all assistants <br />appointed by the Presiding Judge and Tabulation Supervisor shall be subject to the approval of <br />the City Council. <br /> <br />SECTION 12. The election shall be held under and in accordance with the provisions of, <br />the Charter and Ordinances ofthe City of San Marcos, and in accordance with the laws of the State <br />of Texas. <br /> <br />SECTION 13. An executed copy of this Ordinance shall serve as proper notice of the <br />election. <br /> <br />SECTION 14. Notice of the election, including a Spanish translation thereof, shall be <br />published at least once in a newspaper published in the City of San Marcos on or before May 22, <br />2002, and shall be posted on the bulletin board at City Hall on or before May 13,2002. <br /> <br />SECTION 15. A copy of this Ordinance shall be delivered on or before May 17, 2002 to the <br />presiding judge of each election precinct in which the election is ordered to be held, which copy <br />shall serve as a notice or writ of election as required by the Texas Election Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 16. Testing of the automatic tabulating equipment shall be performed and <br />notice thereof shall be given in accordance with Subchapter D of Chapter 127 of the Texas Election <br />Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 17. The rate of compensation to be paid judges, clerks, and assistants to the <br />Central Counting Station Presiding Judge and Tabulation Supervisor for services rendered during <br />the election is established at $6.00 per hour. <br /> <br />SECTION 18. The additional compensation to be paid judges who deliver returns of the <br />election is established at $25.00. <br /> <br />3 <br />
