• Steven Alexander with Texas Aviation Partners provided the City Council with the San <br />Marcos Municipal Airport's Functional Analysis presentation. <br />S.COUNCIL MEMBER UPDATES: <br />Receive status reports and updates from the Mavor and /or Council Members and a <br />general discussion re a� roing the followinZ. <br />Council Member Jones — Update re ag rding recent Hays County Appraisal District <br />Activitv. <br />Council Member Jones invited Luanne Caraway, Chairperson of the Hays County Appraisal <br />District Board, to present the City of San Marcos with a refund check in the amount of <br />$3,348.90. <br />6. Invocation <br />Pastor Mike Higgins with PromiseLand Church provided the invocation. <br />7. Pledg of Alle i� ance <br />Council Member Ryan Thomason led the assembly in the Pledge. <br />• 8. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Griffin Spell, 1101 River Ridge Parkway, addressed the Council and asked that they try and <br />remember this is a nonpartisan City and that it should reflect in their board appointments. He <br />also suggested that Council keep in mind while doing appointments, what the applicant's <br />passion, educational background and experience is. <br />Jane Hughson, 1600 N. LBJ Dr, stated her concern for the City's plans to continue having their <br />planned fireworks display because it is so dry. She highly suggested that the display be <br />cancelled this year. <br />Kristine Weaver, 3207 Briarcrest Dr. Bryan, TX, addressed the Council representing the <br />American Cancer Society and commended the Council for bringing the smoking ban issue <br />forward. She stated that this same issue is currently being discussed in the Legislative Session, <br />but was unsure if it would fare well. She stated that the ACS is not against smokers, just against <br />smoking in an enclosed area. She also stated that there was no economic impact as so many <br />people believed. <br />Elle Minter, 1231 N. LBJ #8, addressed the Council and asked that they consider the banning of <br />plastic bags City wide. <br />Albert Degarmo, 350 North Street, is the new ASG President at Texas State University and <br />wanted to introduce their recent recommendation for Student Liaison. Mr. Reese Swintcher will <br />• be formally accepted and sworn in at the July 5, 2011 Council Meeting. <br />
