Each line boring is scheduled 5 feet below the bottom of the invert and the borings
located at the roadway crossings will be drilled 10 feet below the invert elevation. At each lift
station, the boring depth will be extended 15 feet below the bottom of the wet well floor slab.

Mr. Ben Philips, our drilling superintendent, has visited the project alignment and lift station
locations with Mr. David Bissett in order to identify any major obstructions and/or obstacles to
inhibit the field investigation. Based on present conditions, each proposed boring location is
accessible to our truck-mounted drilling equipment and support vehicles.

We plan to recover intact push-tube samples of cohesive soils for laboratory testing and analysis.
Standard Penetration Tests will be conducted where granular soils are encountered. In the deeper
borings at the lift station locations, it is likely shale will be observed. The shale will be
continuously cored using NX-sized core barrel. While advancing the borings using dry drilling
techniques, each boring will be observed for groundwater infiltration. Upon completion, each
boring will be plugged using bentonite pellets. All recovered samples will be properly labeled,
wrapped and sealed. All samples will be returned to our Austin laboratory where they will be
reviewed and logged. At this time, representative samples will be selected for testing.

As requested by FNI, a 2-inch diameter PVC monitoring well will be constructed at each lift
station location. Each monitor well will be drilled to a depth of 35 feet. The bottom lO-feet will
be screened, with a sand backfill of at least 20 feet from the base of the well. The PVC will be
extended a couple of feet above the ground surface, and then covered with a metal, locking
cover. A small concrete pad will be constructed at the ground surface as required by the
TNRCC. Water levels will be collected and reported on a monthly basis for four months, as
requested.
61YPG365Yl131P153
Copyrighl2001 Kleinfelder. Inc.

3601 Manor Road .
