<br />Service Plan <br /> <br />Southwest San Marcos Annexation <br /> <br />9. Operation and Maintenance of Other Public Facilities, BuildinQs and <br />Services <br />No other public facilities, buildings or services currently exist within the annexed area. The <br />same standards and policies now established and in force within the city limits will be followed <br />in maintaining and expanding other public facilities, building and services. Upon annexation, <br />the owners and residents of property located within the annexed area shall be entitled to the <br />use of all municipal facilities, buildings and services, subject to the same restrictions, fees and <br />availability that pertains to the use of those facilities and services by other citizens of the city. <br /> <br />10. Other Services <br /> <br />a. Animal Control <br />Upon annexation, the City will provide animal control services to the area, including wild <br />animal relocation, dead animal removal, pick-up of stray and abandoned animals, and animal <br />shelter services. <br /> <br />b. Code Enforcement <br />Upon annexation, the City will begin enforcement of community standards, as regulated <br />through city ordinances, that are designed to protect property values and ensure a high <br />quality of life in the community. <br /> <br />c. Drainage Maintenance <br />Upon annexation, the City will provide drainage system maintenance and will begin planning <br />for targeted projects to provide for better drainage in the area. <br /> <br />d. Librarv <br />Currently, Hays County contracts with the City of San Marcos for library services to the <br />proposed annexation area. The contract is renewed on a year-to-year basis. <br /> <br />Upon annexation, the owners and residents of property located within the annexed area shall <br />be permanently entitled to use the municipal library, subject to the same restrictions, fees, <br />and availability that pertains to the use of library facilities and services by other citizens of the <br />city. <br /> <br />e. Neiqhborhood Planninq <br />Upon annexation, the City will provide neighborhood planning services to help solve <br />neighborhood problems and maintain or improve the quality of life in the area. The City also <br />provides scheduled days and city resources for neighborhood clean-up and beautification <br />efforts. <br /> <br />f. Zoninq <br />Upon annexation, the City will extend its residential zoning protection to existing subdivisions <br />in the annexed area. Zoning provides for the protection of property values and the <br />preservation of neighborhood character through controls on the use of land compatible with <br />existing neighborhoods. <br /> <br />November 20, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 4 of 4 <br />
