image 17

· The placement of the various structures should take into account security issues
and the possibility that some facilities may be used only during dawn-to-dusk
hours, while other facilities (e.g., multi-purpose space(s) that might serve for
meetings or gatherings) may be used also in the evenings. These issues could
dictate that different functions might be housed in buildings that are separated
into two or more groups.

· In recognition of the fact that the City of San Marcos may not be able to finance
the construction of all park improvements at one time - and the possibility that
usage of the park may expand and change over time -- the architectural
elements of the park should be designed so as to make growth or expansion
easily accomplished.

~ Where possible locate structures, infrastructure, and utilities in close
proximity to one another in order to minimize site degradation during and
after construction, and in the event of future modifications or maintenance.

~ Design a site plan, which can be easily added on to without significantly
disrupting circulation patterns or detracting from the original facility's
character. Any future expansion should appear to be part of the original
complex.

~ The placement of the buildings (and the configuration of the building roofs)
should be such as to allow photovoltaic panels to be retrofit onto the buildings
at a later time.

Carter = Burgess
Hatch Partnership, LLP
Jankedesign
