<br />73. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />February 1, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />NAY <br /> <br />Thomaides <br /> <br />ABSTAIN <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />On roll call for approval of the Ordlnance on first reading, the following <br />vote was recorded <br /> <br />AYE <br /> <br />Diaz, Guerrero, Mihalkanln, Narvaiz, Bose and Taylor <br /> <br />NAY <br /> <br />Thomaides <br /> <br />ABSTAIN <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption <br />of a Zoning Ordinance, the captlon which was read as follows <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY ZONING AN 81 889 <br />ACRE, MORE OR LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED IN THE 2700 BLOCK OF NORTH <br />IH-35 AS ~GC" GENERAL COMMERCIAL DISTRICT, INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES <br /> <br />~. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the publlc hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing Mr <br />Thomaides moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance, and Mr Guerrero <br />seconded the motion Mr O'Leary provided the Council with a map of the <br />Future Land Use He also stated the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />recommended the zoning of thls property Mr Thomaides inquired whether <br />the property owner has indicated what the property will be used for <br />Carol Barrett, Director of Planning and Development, stated the applicant <br />is seeking a commercial zonlng and has not indicated what the property <br />will be used for Mr Mlhalkanln stated he is concerned about the <br />closeness to the designation of an industrial investment Mayor Narvaiz <br />stated the Clty had a similar situatlon, and the City has a limited area <br />where industrial developments can occur On roll call for adoptlon of the <br />Zoning Ordinance, the following vote was recorded <br /> <br />AYE <br /> <br />Guerrero, Thomaides and Bose <br /> <br />NAY <br /> <br />Diaz, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz and Taylor <br /> <br />ABSTAIN <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />The motion for adoptlon of the Zonlng Ordlnance failed <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for conslderatlon a publlc hearing and adoptlon <br />of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows <br />
