Regular Meeting February 1, 2005 Page 6 NAY Thomaides ABSTAIN None On roll call for approval of the Ordlnance on first reading, the following vote was recorded AYE Diaz, Guerrero, Mihalkanln, Narvaiz, Bose and Taylor NAY Thomaides ABSTAIN None Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the captlon which was read as follows AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY ZONING AN 81 889 ACRE, MORE OR LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED IN THE 2700 BLOCK OF NORTH IH-35 AS ~GC" GENERAL COMMERCIAL DISTRICT, INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES ~. Mayor Narvaiz opened the publlc hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing Mr Thomaides moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance, and Mr Guerrero seconded the motion Mr O'Leary provided the Council with a map of the Future Land Use He also stated the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended the zoning of thls property Mr Thomaides inquired whether the property owner has indicated what the property will be used for Carol Barrett, Director of Planning and Development, stated the applicant is seeking a commercial zonlng and has not indicated what the property will be used for Mr Mlhalkanln stated he is concerned about the closeness to the designation of an industrial investment Mayor Narvaiz stated the Clty had a similar situatlon, and the City has a limited area where industrial developments can occur On roll call for adoptlon of the Zoning Ordinance, the following vote was recorded AYE Guerrero, Thomaides and Bose NAY Diaz, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz and Taylor ABSTAIN None The motion for adoptlon of the Zonlng Ordlnance failed Mayor Narvaiz introduced for conslderatlon a publlc hearing and adoptlon of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows
