<br />129. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />March 1, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />the Councll adjourn into Executive Session at 6 04 p m and Mr Guerrero <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr Mihalkanin moved the Council reconvene at 6 52 p m and Mr Diaz <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for conslderation adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session Mr O'Leary stated the Staff <br />received direction on the appolntees' contracts and an update on a business <br />prospect at McCarty/IH35 and direction how to proceed See Page 11 for <br />continuatlon of Executive Session <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Pledge of Allegiance Jerry Parker and other <br />members of the Associated Student Government from Texas State Universlty- <br />San Marcos lead the Pledge of Allegiance <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced Jerry Parker, Presldent of the Associated Student <br />Government Mr Parker announced Jessica Lynch was appolnted by the <br />Assoclated Student Government Senate, and then introduced Jessica Lynch <br />Mayor Narvaiz ceremonlally administered an Oath of Office to Jessica <br />Lynch, Student Liaison from the Assoclated Student Government <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the 30-Minute Cltizen Comment (1) Walter Burris I <br />stated he wanted to speak regarding the unrelated persons ordinance He <br />was concerned the Clty Council may increase the allowed maXlmum number of <br />unrelated persons to three He stated the Ordinance lS okay as it now is, <br />and needs to be enforced If the number of unreleated persons is <br />increased to three, the ordinance will be negated He cautioned the Clty <br />Council to consider the matter carefully if the number is increased from <br />two to three He also stated the number of dogs be allowed per household <br />should be decreased to three <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report (1) Mr O'Leary provided the <br />Council with a survey of cities in Texas regarding this unrelated persons <br />ordinance ln university cities The survey included information how the <br />university cities regulate unrelated housing issues and methods used to <br />enforce the ordinance (2) Mr O'Leary also provided the Council with <br />informatlon of data from clties regarding raclal profiling <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports (1) Mr Guerrero <br />attended the Fire Department's award ceremony over the weekend and thanked <br />the Fire Department for the good job they did Mr Guerrero also thanked <br />Messrs Frye, Arredondo and Pullman for the informative V1Slt to their Fire <br />Statlon (2) Mr Guerrero stated the EMS Board visited the City of Kyle I <br />last wE;ek The meetlng was to lay the framework for the EMS Master plan <br />(3) Mr Guerrero thanked Amy Kirwin for the good Job over the weekend <br />coordinating the Skate Expo (4) Mr Thomaides attended the Dunbar <br />Heritage Assoclation dinner on Saturday celebrating Black Hlstory Month <br />He stated it was a very nice evening (4) Mayor NarvalZ thanked Johnnie <br />Armstead for coordinatlng the recognition of Women Entrepreneurs, and <br />
