*BLACK BOX-
City of San Marcos Project: Conversion to IP telephones and single CS1000E
Geographic Redundancy
Geographic redundancy is achieved with the addition of the following components and associated
programming at the Police Department site: CPPM processor in the MG1010 chassis; a second
telephony node with the addition of the redundant CPDC servers and one of the two Session
Managers located at this site.
The IP sets will be programmed with Telephony Node 2 (Police Dept) as S1 and Telephony Node
1 (Municipal) as S2. When the IP sets attempt to register to node 2, the NCS application in
Session Manager redirects this to node 1 at Municipal. In the event that node 1 is not available,
then the set registers to node 2. This is an Avaya recommended registration order.
In addition to the redundancy provided for IP sets, Survivable Media Gateway provides
redundancy for TDM resources through triple IP registration. Media Gateways register to the
Primary Call Server (Municipal) as first choice, Alternate Call Server 1 (Police) as second choice,
and Alternate Call Server 2 as third choice (if equipped)
Avaya Software Support
The CS1000E has an existing PASS Plus contract that ends on 6/29/2013. A quantity of 248
user licenses will be transferred from the Police Dept PBX to the CS1000E and so this
additional coverage is included and will co- terminate with the existing contract. Payment
terms are the same as the original PASS Plus contract.
No labor or hardware has been included in this pricing for future upgrades provided by the
Avaya Partner Assurance Support Services (PASS). Labor & hardware required for
subsequent Avaya Partner Assurance Support Services releases will be purchased by the
customer at Black Box Network Services then - published labor and material rates
Solution Architecture
This design allows for a single CS1000E platform to operate the voice network for the city.
This replaces the separate PBX systems at the Police Department, Electric Utility and Parks
and Recreation allows all of these sites to operate from the CS1000E at Municipal. This
design provides for single system management, future upgrades that will involve only one
PBX and the removal of SRG gateways.
To increase the resilience of the network, the Police Department will be equipped with a
Survivable Media Gateway (SMG1000E) which will provide processing for this site in the
event of a connectivity issue with Municipal or failure of the main processors. It will also allow
other sites to operate from this alternate processor. Another Telephony Node has also been
added to the Police Department site so that IP sets at this site as well as the whole network
can register here if there is a failure at the main site.
Avaya Aura Session Manager and System Manager is included. This provides for any SIP
routing required.
Project Pricing
Pricing is per the attached Schedule A. Pricing includes all necessary hardware and software.
Pricing includes all labor for installation, configuration, and training as detailed in the description of
this document.
