Ms. Darlene Lewis
Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept.
4200 Smith School Rd.
Austin, TX. 78744

February 23,2000

Dear Ms. Lewis:

The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is not only supportive of the
proposed Wildscape Program at the Greenhouse Interpretive Center, it is actively
involved to make it a success. The Interpretive Center will act as a community outdoor
education center and trailhead for an extensive nature trail along the San Marcos River.
The center's location at IH-35 and proximity to the San Marcos River make it a highly
visible and accessible pathway to environmental education for the community and
schools.

The establishment of a Wildscape Program is essential toward providing hands-on
learning experiences for visitors and participants. It offers schools and communities a
place to visit and learn about the natural world throughout the year. The City of San
Marcos has already invested time and money into the proposed site for the Wildscape
Program and will continue this investment toward the establishment of the program and
its continuing maintenance.

Thank you for your time and interest.

~

Rodney Cobb
Director of Parks and Recreation Department

Parks & Recreation · 630 East Hopkins · San Marcos, Texas 78666 · 512/393-8400 · FAX 512/353-7273
