The <br />regional councils account for 224 counties and 360 PSAPs. It was stated that the ACSEC is currently <br />studying the financial and technical impacts of this important step in <br />wireless implementation through various trials, task forces and working <br />groups across the State. Once studies are completed the Commission <br />will request Phase I implementation on behalf of the regional councils <br />and their PSAPs. Although the Wireless Service Fee is the funding <br />mechanism currently in place to provide cost recovery to the wireless <br />carriers, these funds will not be made available to the regional councils <br />for wireless E9-1-1 services until Phase I implementation is requested <br />for the participants in the State program by the Commission. <br /> <br />Wireless Phase J request <br /> <br />Reference: ACSEC response <br /> <br />Source: <br /> <br />Policy: <br /> <br />April 27,1998 GTE Wireless letter <br /> <br />The ACSEC became aware of a letter from GTE Wireless, being sent to <br />PSAPs, entitled "An Open Letter to the Nation's Public Safety <br />Community About Wireless E9-1-1 Service."
