<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />December 7, 2005 <br /> <br />91 . <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />RESIDENTIAL TO MIXED USE FOR A 0 78 ACRE TRACT OF LAND LOCATED AT <br />421/423 MOORE STREET; AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY <br />REZONING THIS TRACT FROM "R-1" SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW <br />DENSITY) ("SF-6") TO "MU" MIXED USE DISTRICT, INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing Mr <br />Guerrero moved for adoption of the Ordinance, and Mr Bose seconded the <br />motion Carol Barrett, Director of Planning and Development, stated this <br />property has a duplex located on it and is in walking distance to the <br />University She stated the Planning and Zoning Commission had a concern <br />with the Mixed Use zoning, because the zoning would allow a laundry mat <br />She stated Multi-Family dwelling is permitted in Multi-Use zoning She <br />also stated the Planning and Zoning Commission will be reviewing what is <br />permitted on the different zonings On roll call for adoption of the <br />Ordinance, the following vote was recorded <br /> <br />AYE <br /> <br />Diaz, Guerrero, Narvaiz, Thomaides and Taylor <br /> <br />NAY <br /> <br />Mihalkanin and Bose <br /> <br />I ABSTAIN None <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the Ordinance was approved <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of <br />an Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP FROM LOW DENSITY <br />RESIDENTIAL TO MIXED USE FOR A 0 67 ACRE TRACT OF LAND LOCATED AT <br />1406, 1408 AND 1420 BISHOP STREET, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF <br />THE CITY BY REZONING THIS TRACT FROM "R-l" SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING <br />DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY) ("SF-6") TO "MU" MIXED USE DISTRICT, INCLUDING <br />PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak 1) Johnny Ferrell stated he lives on Franklin Street He stated <br />this rezoning is not good for Franklin Street and the neighborhood is <br />opposed to this rezoning 2) Joe Cox stated he lives on Franklin Street <br />He stated he is opposed to this rezoning He stated several residents have <br />made major investments to their property and do not want the zoning to be <br />I changed to Mixed Use Mayor Narvaiz asked if anyone else wished to speak <br />No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing Mr Diaz moved for <br />adoption of the Ordinance, and Mr Guerrero seconded the motion Mr <br />Thomaides stated he is sure the current property owners would keep the <br />
