Edwards Aquifer Recovery Implementation Program HABITAT CONSERVATION PLAN <br />r and to <br />(EAA Act § 1.08(a)). <br />The following are among the major functions of the EAA as established by the EAA Act: <br /> Manage and control withdrawals of water from the Aquifer through the issuance of <br />permits and the registration of wells. <br /> Protect the water quality of the Aquifer. <br /> Protect the water quality of the surface streams to which the Aquifer provides springflow. <br /> Achieve water conservation. <br /> Maximize the beneficial use of water available for withdrawal from the Aquifer. <br /> Protect aquatic and wildlife habitat. <br /> Protect species that are designated as threatened or endangered under applicable <br />federal or state law. <br /> Provide for in-stream uses, bays, and estuaries. <br /> Protect water supplies. <br /> Protect the operation of existing industries. <br /> Protect the economic development of the state. <br /> Prevent the waste or pollution of water in the Aquifer. <br /> Increase recharge of water to the Aquifer. <br /> Enforce compliance with the EAA Act. <br /> <br />1-3 <br /> <br />
