movement counts (TMCs) at the following intersections to determine existing traffic
volumes on the project corridor:
• Hunter Road / Wonder World Drive
• Hunter Road / Dixon St
• Hunter Road / San Antonio St
• Hunter Road / Bishop St
Additionally, the Engineer will obtain from the City 24 -hour directional tube counts at
the following mid -block locations:
• Hunter Road just north of Wonder World Drive
• Hunter Road between Dixon St and San Antonio St
• Hunter Road just south of Bishop St
The City will provide the Engineer information on existing approved land development
projects and future land use plans. The Engineer will use appropriate land use codes
from the Trip Generation, 8t' Edition, published by the Institute of Transportation
Engineers (ITE) to determine future peak - period and daily new vehicle trips. The
Engineer will coordinate with the City to set a future study year for conducting all
existing and future capacity analyses. The Engineer will apply an appropriate growth
factor to project existing traffic volumes to future study year background volumes. The
total traffic in the future study year will be the combination of background and future
traffic volumes. Capacity for different roadway cross - sections will be considered such
that existing and future traffic volume requirements on the corridor are satisfied.
Intersection capacity analysis shall be considered to address turning lane storage
requirements. An appropriate roadway cross - section will be recommended in accordance
with capacity, pedestrian and bike requirements, and the City's long term transportation
goals and objectives.
The Engineer will develop a technical memorandum that will document the methodology,
assumptions, analysis, alternatives, and recommendations on an appropriate roadway
cross - section for the project corridor.
Conduct a signal warrant analysis at San Antonio Street and Dixon Street (assuming the
future traffic volumes are high enough).
1.5.5 Design preliminary horizontal and vertical roadway geometrics utilizing Microstation V8
and Geopak roadway design software.
1.5.6 Prepare preliminary design schematics for up to two (2) alternative roadway
configurations. The preliminary design schematics will identify impacts associated with varying
lane configurations, roadway cross sections, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities. The
preliminary design schematics will be limited to existing topography and utilities, horizontal
alignments, roadway typical sections, existing and proposed right -of -way, existing and proposed
Kirnley -Horn — FM 2439 (Hunter Road)
13
