<br />Actions: <br />1. Provide advocacy services to assure that local businesses are aware of, and receive full <br />benefit from, applicable federal, state and local programs. <br />2. Assist employers seeking gap or expansion financing, employee training, site selection, <br />suppliers, marketing expertise, or other needs relating to maintaining and growing local <br />companies. <br />3. Continue to trackjobs retained or created through the expansion of existing firms, and <br />document EDC assistance. <br />Goal No.3: Address issues related to economic development. <br />Strategy- Measure capital investment in area projects, identifying those in which the EDC <br />played an instrumental or supportive role in facilitating. <br />Actions: <br />1. Attend meetings that impact economic development such as housing, transportation and <br />education. <br />2. Maintain records on economic development information. <br />3. Continue to track trends that affect economic development. <br />Goal No.4: Increase community awareness about economic development. <br />Strategy- Implement a strong business retention/expansion program, maintaining close ties <br />through regular contact with major area employers. <br />Actions: <br />1. Publish information in the newspaper and the Chamber newsletter about economic <br />development. <br />2. Speak at local service groups, leadership classes, and schools to increase the awareness <br />of local economic development. <br />Goal No.5: Stabilize and build on funding needs. <br />Strategy- Increase the funding base during fiscal year 2000-2001. <br />Actions: <br />1. Achieve an increase of 15% for fiscal year 2000-2001 in private sector funding. <br />2. Investigate other funding sources, including fee-based, grants, and program income. <br /> <br />Page 2 <br />
