Hopkins
San Marcos, Texas 78666

Proposal No. 1001-3461
January 10, 2006

Proposal for Geotechnical Investigation and Consulting Services
Rio Vista Dam Repair
San Marcos, Texas

I

Dear Mr. Cobb,

Submitted here Is our proposal to perform a geotechnical investigation and provide
consulting services and construction materials testing for the above referenced project. This
proposal is based on several recent meetings and discussions with representatives of your civil
consultant, Halff Associates, as well as our site observation and brief meeting with you this
morning. The existing channel overflow dam and abutment walls have experienced deterioration,
erosion and scour, particularly at the right (facing downstream) abutment. Halff Associates
requested geotechnical services to assist in the design of repair of the observed distress and
other modifications that may enhance the aesthetics and recreational function of the dam, and
provide construction materials testing during construction of the repairs/modifications.

The geotechnical investigation will inclu~e field, laboratory, and engineering services
during the design phase, and materials testing services during the construction phase. The
following sections of this proposal include the scope of services for each phase, a cost estimate,
and proposed terms and conditions.

I
!
-I

Field Investigation
Based on our discussion with Halff Associates and drill rig access limitations, we propose
to drill a tota.! of two borings, one as close to each abutment as access allows. Each boring will
sample and penetrate the alluvial soils, and tenninate in the underlying bedrock. We have
estimated each boring to extend 50 ft below grade for budget purposes. The borings will be
backfilled upon completion.

I@

A member of the Fugro group of companies with offices throughout the world.

l
