1.08 EQUIPMENT DEFECTS

I

A. Equipment that has mechanical defects and does not meet manufacturer's vibration
requirements will be rejected and will be replaced at PROPONENT'S full expense for
furnishing, installing, removal, and replacement.

B. Mechanical defects will include excessive vibration, improper balancing of rotative
parts, improper tolerances, binding, excessive bearing heating, defective materials,
improper fitting of parts, and any other defect which will in time damage the
equipment or impair its operation.

C. Requirements will be met concerning minimum and maximum dimensions and the
specifications for materials. If it is found upon delivery that materials do not agree with the
requirements of these Specifications as to size, type, quality, or metallurgy, they will be rejected as
unfit for use.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01

ODOR CONTROL FANS

I

A. General: Provide each odor control fan complete with motor, drive, guard,
baseplate and vibration monitoring system. The fan will be constructed such that all
surfaces in contact with the corrosive gas stream are to be made of solid, corrosion
resistant fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) for the fan housing and 316 stainless
steel for the fan wheel. All nuts, bolts and fasteners in contact with the gas stream will
be type 316 SST and encapsulated in FRP. Fans will be AMCA Arrangement 1,9 or
10. AMCA Arrangement 4, which places the motor shaft in the corrosive gas stream
is unacceptable.

B. Type: Single width, single inlet, backward curved type impeller, Class III centrifugal
fan with fixed discharge. Each fan will be tested and rated in accordance with
ASHRAE 51-75, AMCA Standard 210 and will be licensed to bear the AMCA 210-74
Test Code Seal, and be guaranteed by PROPONENT to deliver rated performance.

C. Performance: Fan ratings will be based on tests made in accordance with AMCA
Standard 210 and licensed to bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for Air
Performance. Fans not licensed to bear the AMCA Seal for performance will be
tested, at PROPONENT's expense, in an AMCA Registered Laboratory. Fans will
have a sharply rising pressure characteristic extending throughout the operating
range to assure quiet and stable operation. Fan brake horsepower will be equal to or
less than the BHP specified in the schedule at the listed static pressure and CFM.

D. Sound: PROPONENT will provide a sound power level rating for fans tested and
rated in accordance with AMCA Standards 300 and 301. Sound power ratings will be
in decibels (reference 10-12 watts) in eight octave bands. The maximum sound level
will be at or below 80 decibels at 5 feet.

I

E. Construction: Fan will be constructed in accordance with the ASTM 0-4167 standard
specification for fiber-reinforced plastic fans and blowers to ensure structural integrity.
All parts exposed to the gas stream will be constructed of, or encapsulated in, an
FRP laminate capable of resisting continuous airstream temperatures of 250oF. Fan
housing must be fabricated of vinyl ester resins; "C" grade or better internal veil; and
