Mr. Diaz moved for adoption of the <br />Zoning Ordinance, and Mr. Guerrero seconded the motion. Mr. Mihalkanin <br />inquired as to the current zoning. Carol Barrett, Director of Planning <br />and Development, stated portions of this property are not zoned. Mr. Mark <br />Taylor stated a portion of this property was never zoned after it was <br />annexed into the City. Mr. Mihalkanin inquired when this property was <br />annexed in 1998 and the remaining 318.105 acres was annexed in 1991. Mr. <br />Diaz inquired whether the intentions of the City were to turn this area <br />into an industrial area. Ms. Barrett stated the future land use map shown <br />this area as industrial and the rear portion is shown as low density. Mr. <br />Thomaides stated he feels if this zoning was approved, it would put future <br />jobs and business expansions at risk. On roll call for adoption of the <br />Zoning Ordinance, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Diaz. <br /> <br />NAY: Guerrero, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz, Thomaides, Bose and Taylor. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN, None. I <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on <br />second reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING DIVISION 3 OF ARTICLE 3 OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY CODE TO <br />CHANGE THE NAME OF THE "MINORITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM <br />DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD" TO THE "MINORITY ECONOMIC AND TOURISM <br />DEVELOPMENT BOARD"; AMENDING THE DUTIES OF THIS BOARD; AMENDING <br />SECTION 2.352 OF THE CITY CODE TO REVISE THE DUTIES OF THE CONVENTION <br />AND VISITORS BUREAU BOARD; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved for approval of the Ordinance with amendments <br />regarding the duties of the board on second reading, and Mr. Guerrero <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration reconsideration of a Zoning <br />Ordinance. The Council did not wish to reconsider this Ordinance.
