Based on the results of tasks identified 111 1.2.1
through 1.2.3, the Engineer will update the opinion of probable costs for the combll1ed water and
wastewater project. The Engineer will present this informatiOn in the form of a Techmcal
Memorandum.

1.3 PHASE 2 -DESIGN SERVICES

The Engll1eer will:

1.3.1 Field Survey. Obtain a field topographic survey necessary to complete the design of the
proposed improvements. The field survey will be based on the Texas State Grid Coordinate
System and will have horizontal accuracy of 0.05 feet and vertical accuracy of 0 10 feet. The
Engmeer will ensure that the survey is prepared so that it covers the proposed alignment with a
width of 50 feet (25 feet on either side of the centerline) and ties all viSIble topographIc features,
includll1g but not limited to existing property and easement corners, mail boxes, meter boxes,
valve stems, utilities and appurtenances, roadways, back of curbs, IIp of gutters, sidewalks,
driveways, landscape features, structures, railroads, and trees 6 inches in dIameter and greater.

1.3.2 Geotechnical Investigations. Obtain and review the results of a geotechmcal investigatIon
of the subsurface conditions of the water improvements portion of the Project site The
subsurface investigation willll1clude up to three subsurface borings carried to a total depth of 10
feet. This subsurface investigation will be conducted only for the water Improvements portIOn of
the ProJect. The Engineer and the City assume that the subsurface ll1vestigatiOn conducted for
the wastewater improvements is available and sufficient for the re-design of the wastewater
improvements.

1.3.3 Design Calculations. Complete the design calculations necessary to prepare the detailed
construction drawings for the Project, including alignment stationing, vertIcal grades, beddll1g
requirements and pipe material reqUIrements.

1 3.4 Detailed Construction Drawings. Complete detaIled construction drawings for the Project
at a horizontal scale of 1" = 50' and a vertIcal scale of 1" = 5'. Engineer WIll prepare drawll1gs
on 22" x 34" original plan sheets. The construction drawings will mclude plan views, profiles,
sections, and detaIls necessary to clearly define the intent of the Project. The Engmeer wIll also
define the limits of construction, required constructiOn sequencmg, environmental protectiOn
reqUIrements, identified contractor staging areas, and traffic control plans. The Engll1eer wIll
provide five (5) copies of preliminary construction drawings at 95 percent complete for CIty
review. Following the City's review and approval, the Engll1eer will make appropriate reviSIOns
and submit one revised final copy of the construction drawings.

1.3.5 Revise the Wastewater Improvements Construction Plans. Construction drawings for the
wastewater improvements currently exist. However, the City and the Engineer anticipate that the
size of the line must be reVIsed from the 27" dIameter line currently shown to a 36" lme In

11 I',! j ! ~ '... \. t

3
