<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />106. <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOI)MENT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />This contract is dated September 28 ,2004, and is between the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, a Texas municipal corporation (the "City"), the Greater San Marcos Economic Development <br />Council (the "EDC") and the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (the "Chamber"). <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The Chamber administers a community economic development program through the EDC. <br />2. The City Council desires to approve a contract with the EDC and the Chamber for fiscal <br />year 2004-2005 for professional services to promote orderly and responsible economic development <br />for the San Marcos geographic area. <br /> <br />AGREEMENT: <br /> <br />1. JOINT OBLIGATIONS OF EDC AND CHAMBER <br /> <br />A. EDC and Chamber shall conduct and administer an economic development program, the <br />mission of which will be to enhance and diversify the San Marcos area economy. EDC and Chamber <br />agree to use their best efforts to accomplish this mission by using the following strategies and actions <br />to achieve the following goals during the term of this Agreement: <br />Goall: Retention and Expansion of Primary Employers <br /> <br />1. Visit each existing private sector primary employer in the San Marcos area a <br />minimum of once a year. Organize meetings between a small team of city <br />representatives and existing primary employers to thank the employers for doing <br />business in San Marcos. The meetings should discuss the employers' thoughts on <br />business trends and respond to questions related to city government. <br />2. Create a program for assistance of small businesses and property owners in <br />reinvesting in their properties in the downtown area. <br />3. Create and conduct an annual workshop and training session focused on small <br />business topics related to how to work with the City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />Goal 2: Recruit Primary Employers <br /> <br />I. Create, review and revise annually with the City Council a targeted industries list. The <br />EDC will conduct a workshop with City Council to establish the targeted industnes <br />list. The EDC will provide the City Council with a proposed targeted industries list <br />prior to the workshop. <br />2. Create and maintain a database of available relocation/new industrial development <br />sites in San Marcos. <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
