APPENDIX 1

CALCULATION OF IMPERVIOUS COVER

Roads, parking areas, buildings and other impermeable construction covering
the natural land surface shall be considered as impervious cover. To
determine the percent of impervious cover created by the development of a
parcel or tract of land, the following methods should be used:

Roadways (except cul-de-sacs)

(Wr + 2Wc) X (If) = square feet
Wr = width of roadway pavement
We = width of curb
lf = linear feet

Cul-de-Sacs (Use either A or B)

A. (P/2 + 10) (Wr + 2Wc) = square feet
P = perimeter of right-of-way

Wr = width of roadway
We = width of curb.
B. (Wr + 2Wc) X (If) + (r + Wc)2 = square feet
Wr = width of roadway
W = width of curb
c
lf = 3.142 (linear feet to point of tangency with cul-de-sac
turn-around)

r = radius of turn-around pavement.

Driveway Approaches

(16) X (9.5) X (N) = square feet

Where, 16 - average driveway width in feet

9.5 = length of driveway approach for standard 101 curb base
minus curb. (This factor may vary depending on ROW
and resulting curb base).

N = total number of lots
