BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended by adding an article, to be numbered Article III in Chapter 6, which said article reads as follows: ARTICLE III. CEMETERY CO~~ISSION Sec. 6-35. Created. There 1S hereby created and established the City of San Marcos Cemetery Commission. Sec. 6-36. Purpose. The purpose of the City of San Marcos Cemetery Commission is to act as a liaison between the city staff and citizens to determine citizen expecta- tions and give recommendations to the city coun- cil for budget, maintenance, projects and special programs at the cemetery based on these expecta- tions. Sec. 6-37. Responsibilities. The City of San Marcos Cemetery Commission shall: (a) Provide a yearly report to the city council on cemetery progress, programs, needs and other matters of concern. (b) Plan special projects at the cemetery, such as historical or genealogy searches and opening new sections. (c) Make city staff aware of special problems, including, but not limited to, violations of maintenance contract and vandalism. (d) Meet periodically with city staff to develop projects, discuss problems, plan capital improvements, discuss budgets and funding and consider other matters of concern. (e) Present monetary plans to the city coun- cil for needed improvements, including, but not limited to, fence repairs and water line improvements, and make recom- mendations on such improvements. 112
