<br />95. <br /> <br />INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER AND <br />SECURITY OFFICER <br /> <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS * <br />* <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAYS * <br /> <br />Effective Date: October 1, 1998 <br /> <br />Parties: The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, hereinafter referred to as the <br />"District" and the City of San Marcos, hereinafter referred to as the "City". <br /> <br />Recitals: <br />1. Chapter 791, Texas Government Code, the Texas Interlocal Cooperation Act (the <br />Cooperation Act) empowers the parties to contract with each other in performances of <br />governmental functions, including police protection as permitted in }37.081 of the <br />Texas Education Code. <br /> <br />2. The district has requested the City to provide, and the City wishes to provide, police <br />officers to act as Security and School Resource officers at various District schools <br />during the regularly scheduled school sessions, or such other times as may be <br />mutually agreed by the parties. <br /> <br />Af!ftement: <br />In consideration of the mutual covenants and agreements contained herein, as well <br />as other food and valuable consideration the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby <br />acknowledged, the parties agree as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. Term. The tenn of this agreement will commence on the effective date <br />and continue until such time as it is terminated in a manner described in Section 6, <br />Paragraph F. <br /> <br />Section 2. Resource Officer Services. The city agrees to provide resource officer <br />services to the District by five officers employed by the city. These officers will remain <br />under the overall control and supervision of the City at all times and will remain City <br />employees, entitled to the same benefits and authority, and subject to the same restrictions <br />as other City police officers. The officers will generally wear their Department uniforms <br />and equipment while providing services under this Agreement. While on campus, the <br />officers will work under the supervision of the police department School Resource Officer <br />coordinator in conjunction with the respective campus principal, or the principal's <br />designated agent. The primary function of the School Resource Officer is to act as role <br />model and Positively interact with the students. Specific duties performed by the School <br />Resource Officers must be agreed to by both the school principal or and the City's School <br />Resource Officer coordinator. <br /> <br />Section 2a. School Security Officer Services. The city agrees to provide security <br />officer services to the District by one officer employed by the city.
