San Marcos Wastewater Masterplan
PBS&J
Austin, Texas
February 6, 2003

3. Preparation of equipment to be assigned and transported to the project site.

Hold a project work session to ensure that all parties are in agreement with the selected
flow monitoring locations, to ensure that all work is conducted in the most economic
method and that proper communications are developed between, PBS&J, GSWW, and
City of San Marcos personnel, and that all applicable safety procedures are in place.

5. Plan for traffic and pedestrian control to ensure public safety and convenience.

The compensation for this task will be on a "Lump Sum" basis,

Task 2 - Installation, Removal and Maintenance of Flow Meters/Rain Gauges

install fifteen (15) velocity/depth recorders and/or lift station monitors at strategic manholes
and/or lift stations within the study area to isolate and monitor wastewater flows in the collection
system. Five (ii) continuous rainfall gauges with 0.01-inch accuracy will also be installed at
various locations within the study area. The exact locations for flow meters will be determined
during the Task 1 activities.

The flow metering equipment will be maintained and data collected (7 to 10 day cycle) for a period
of sixty (60) days to cover representative dry weather flow and cover three or more significant
rainfall events. Four (4) site calibrations will be performed at each meter site during the monitoring
period.

The compensation for this task will be on a "PerMeter-Day" basis.

For the purposes of this proposal, a meter day is defined as a single 24-hour period that the flow
monitoring equipment is installed in the City's wastewater collection system.

If, for any reason, dry and wet weather flows cannot be established during the basic metering
period of sixty days, flow measurement may be extended at the Engineer's direction (see Table 1
for extended metering rates).

Task 3 - Flow Monitoring, Data Management, Engineering Evaluation and Report

This task consists of analyzing the flow data from the fourteen metering sites and presenting the
results in the form of a report, including the following information:

1. Data provided in electronic format, as collected.

2. Tabulation and presentation of the collected wastewater flow and rainfall data for the sixty day
period.

2. Hydrographs showing hourly flow in graphical form showing diurnal variations and peak flows.

3. Development of the average dry weather flow, two hour peak dry weather flow, 24 hour
maximum wet weather flows and two-hour peak wet weather flows from the collected data

fl Engineering/San Marcos/Flow Monitoring Proposal,doc
