<br />14 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE t980-1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br />AMENDING SECTION 4, ENTITLED "DEF- <br />INITIONS" OF APPENDIX A, ENTITLED <br />"GENERAL ZONING ORDINANCE" OF THE <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY; <br />BY CHANGING THE DEFINITION OF "FAMILY" <br />TO INCLUDE ANY NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS <br />LIVING TOGETHER AS A SINGLE HOUSE- <br />KEEPING UNIT, IN WHICH NOT MORE THAN <br />TWO (2) INDIVIDUALS ARE UNRELATED BY <br />MARRIAGE OR LEGAL ADOPTION WITHIN <br />THE DEFINITION, BY ALPHABETIZING SAID <br />DEFINITIONS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 4, Entitled "Definitions" of <br />Appendix A, Entitled "General Zoning Ordinance" of the Code <br />of Ordinances, City of San Marcos, Texas is hereby amended <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 4. Definitions <br /> <br />For the purpose of clarification, it is the intent <br />of this Ordinance that the following words or phrases <br />shall be interpreted to have the meaning as outlined <br />below: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Accessory Building: In a residential district, a <br />subordinate building, attached to or detached from <br />the main building, without separate utilities, and <br />not used for commercial purpose, or rented. It may <br />be used as servants' quarters, a washroom, storage <br />room for domestic storage belonging to th~ owner or <br />tenant only, or a space for one or more automobiles <br />owned by the owner, tenant or guests. In districts <br />other than residential, an accessory building is a <br />subordinate building the use of which is incidental <br />to and used only in conjunction with the main build- <br />lng. <br /> <br />Apartment: A room in an apartment house occupied <br />by not more than two individuals; or, a suite of <br />rooms arranged, designed, or occupied as a residence <br />by a single family, individual, or groups of indivi- <br />duals. <br /> <br />Apartment Hotel: Any building larger than an apart- <br />ment house designed or built to be occupied as a series <br />of separate apartments and by persons living independent- <br />ly of each other. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Apartment House: A building designed, built, rented, <br />leased, let or hired out to be occupied by three (3) <br />or more apartments or which is occupied as the home <br />or residence of three (3) or more families or indivi- <br />duals, living independently of each other. <br /> <br />Area of the Lot: The area of the lot shall be the <br />net area of the lot and shall not include portions of <br />streets and alleys. <br /> <br />Block: An area enclosed by streets and occupied by <br />or intended for buildings; or, if said word is used <br />as a term of measurement, it shall mean the distance <br />along a side of a street between the nearest two (2) <br />streets which intersect said street. <br />
