28 regular meeting january 28, 1980 page two The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN ~ffiRCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF APPROXIMATELY 1 ACRE OUT OF THE T.W. FORSYTH SURVEY, LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF RANCH ROAD 12 AND THE ENTRANCE TO COUNTRY ESTATES, FROM "R-l" (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO "c" (COMMERCIAL). I Mr. Breihan moved the Ordinance be approved on second reading. Mr. Tenorio seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Mr. Cavazos moved the Ordinance be approved on second reading. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which passed unanimously. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ABANDONING PORTIONS OF GUADALUPE STREET, ROANOAK STREET, LYNDON B. JOHNSON DRIVE, PLEASANT STREET, PARK STREET, AND A PORTION OF AN ALLEY EXTENDING NORTHWARD AND EASTWARD FROM PLEASANT STREET SESSOM DRIVE LOCATED WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF SAID CITY; PROVIDING FOR THE REVISION OF THE FEE IN SAID LAND AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. I Mr. Cavazos moved the Ordinance be approved on second reading. Mr. Tenorio seconded the motion. Mr. Hyatt expressed his concern that the City and University must find some way to route traffic around the campus if interior streets are to be closed. The City Manager responded that staff was working with SWTSU representatives concerning traffic and recommended that Council approve the Ordinance. The Mayor stipulated that the abandonment by SWTSU of Woods Street from Comanche to Guadalupe be released to the City before the deed was approved for City abandonment of streets. On roll call, the motion to approve the Ordinance on second reading passed unanimously. The Mayor opened a public hearing continued from the regular meeting held January 14th to consider a request for a change in the zoning of Lots 430 and 431, Block 20 of the Westover Addition from "R-l" to "R-2". Mr. Ralph Ramirez, the applicant, was present to inform the Council that there were already duplexes in the area and that he considered it the highest and best use of the land. Mr. W. B. pryatel, representing the Southwest Hills Neighborhood Association, objected to rezoning.
