The Mayor introduced for consideration an Ordinance on third and final reading having the following caption: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF A PORTION OF LAND OUT OF THE J. M. VERAMENDI LEAGUE NO. TWO; LOCATED AT 703 UHLAND ROAD FROM "R-I" (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO "C" (COMMERCIAL). Mr. Cavazos moved the Ordinance be adopted. Mr. Stokes seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The Mayor introduced for consideration a Resolution approving an IPA Contract between the City of San Marcos and SWTSU having the following caption: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT BEWTEEN SAID CITY AND SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY FOR ASSISTANCE IN COMPLETION OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES PURSUANT TO THE SAN MARCOS PERSONNEL IMPROVEMENT PROG~1i AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Stokes asked if this study would make a comparison between the City salaries and the private sector. The City Manager said it would include a salary survey. Mr. James moved to approve the Resolution. Mr. Tenorio seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor introduced for consideration an Election Resolution appointing judges and polling places for the May 10th Run-Off City Election having the following caption: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING POLLING PLACES AND APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE SPECIAL CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, MAY 10, 1980, IN SAID CITY. Mr. James moved to approve the Resolution. Mr. Tenorio seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The Mayor introduced for consideration the authorization of contingency funds for purchase of cemetery dirt. Dinah Elwell addressed the Council and told them that the contractor said he needed more top soil to maintain the grass at the cemetery. Mr. Stokes moved to authorize $300 from the General Contingency Fund to purchase dirt for the cemetery. Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
