Mr. James seconded the motion <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration an Ordinance on third and final <br />reading having the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES <br />AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES <br />AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING <br />OF A PORTION OF LAND OUT OF THE J. M. VERAMENDI LEAGUE NO. TWO; <br />LOCATED AT 703 UHLAND ROAD FROM "R-I" (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) <br />TO "C" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Mr. Cavazos moved the Ordinance be adopted. Mr. Stokes seconded the <br />motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration a Resolution approving an IPA <br />Contract between the City of San Marcos and SWTSU having the following <br />caption: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT BEWTEEN SAID CITY AND SOUTHWEST <br />TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY FOR ASSISTANCE IN COMPLETION OF PERSONNEL <br />MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES PURSUANT TO THE SAN MARCOS <br />PERSONNEL IMPROVEMENT PROG~1i AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Stokes asked if this study would make a comparison between the City <br />salaries and the private sector. The City Manager said it would include <br />a salary survey. Mr. James moved to approve the Resolution. Mr. Tenorio <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration an Election Resolution appointing <br />judges and polling places for the May 10th Run-Off City Election having <br />the following caption: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, ESTABLISHING POLLING PLACES AND APPOINTING ELECTION <br />OFFICIALS FOR THE SPECIAL CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, <br />MAY 10, 1980, IN SAID CITY. <br /> <br />Mr. James moved to approve the Resolution. Mr. Tenorio seconded the <br />motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration the authorization of contingency <br />funds for purchase of cemetery dirt. Dinah Elwell addressed the Council <br />and told them that the contractor said he needed more top soil to maintain <br />the grass at the cemetery. Mr. Stokes moved to authorize $300 from the <br />General Contingency Fund to purchase dirt for the cemetery.
