I I The Engineer will indicate to the Owner the approximate boundaries of right-of-way or easements which may be required for the Project. Surveys for the procurement of land and services in connection with proceedings for the condemnation of land are not a part of this contract. The Owner shall pay for costs of land surveys and shall com- pensate the Engineer for services rendered in connection with condemnation proceedings. 3. Compensation to Engineer: The Owner agrees to pay the Engi- neer for all professional services rendered under this contract in ac- cordance with the following: a. For Preliminary Engineering: For Preliminary Engineering, Paragraph 2.a., the Engineer shall be compensated the lump sum of $9,300. This sum shall be due and payable upon submittal of the final report to the Owner. Additional Work: If during the course of this phase of the contract, the Owner should desire or find it necessary to expand the scope of the work, this work will be accom- plished on a cost plus basis in accordance with the fol- lowing schedule of charges. No work will be performed without the specific written authorization of the Owner. For additional work, the Engineer shall be paid the salary cost of all personnel required times a multiplier of 2.3. Salary Cost is defined as the cost of salaries of engineers, planners, draftsmen, stenographers, survey- men, clerks, laborers, etc., for time directly chargeable to the project, plus social security contributions, un- employment compensation insurance, retirement benefits, medical and insurance benefits, sick leave, vacation and holiday pay applicable thereto. (Salary Cost is currently equal to 1.34 times salary payments. This factor is adjusted annually.) The Engineer shall also be paid the actual cost of other direct expenses times a multiplier of 1.15. Other direct expenses shall include printing and reproduction expense, communication expense, travel, transportation and sub- sistence away from Austin, and other miscellaneous expense directly related to wrok, including other work required to be done by independent persons or agents other than staff members.
