The fol-
lowing is a recap of the suggestions and recommendati-eRB~wh-iGh were made:

1. In order to increase the amount of funds recovered on uncollectible
accounts, it was suggested that the small claims court be utilized.

2. In order to reduce the amount of uncovered Medicare charges, it
was recommended that increases in EMS charges be initiated no
sooner than 30 days prior to the time that Medicare approves rate
increases.

3. It was suggested that a statement such as, lithe information on this
statement will assist you in filing your insurance", be stamped
on each bill before it is mailed out.

4. It was suggested that payments which are received from patients
who have both EMS and hospital accounts be prorated.

I

5. It was suggested that payments which are received on EMS ac~ounts
after they have been written off to bad debts be identified
separately as a recovery of EMS bad debts.

6. It was recommended that the EMT relief position, which appears
on the proposed budget, be eliminated. This would reduce the
proposed salary expense by approximately $4,500.

Every effort will be made to implement the suggestions stated above. It
is certainly our desire to continue to have not only a high quality EMS
program but also one that is as efficient as possible.

Please aovise me when this item will be on the city council agenda.

Dashner

GHr. :ml f

A GENER AL HOSPITAL OPERATED BY ADVENTIST HEALTH SYSTEM; SUNBELT
