<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1980-50

<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ANNEXING TO SAID CITY A
<br />CONTIGUOUS TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING 266 ACRES
<br />LOCATED WITHIN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDIC-
<br />TION OF SAID CITY AND LYING ADJACENT TO PRESENT
<br />CITY BOUNDARIES; EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS
<br />OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE SAID 266 ACRES;
<br />GRANTING TO THE INHABITANTS OF SAID 266 ACRES
<br />ALL THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS
<br />OF SAID CITY; BINDING SAID INHABITANTS BY ALL
<br />OF THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES, RULES AND REGULATIONS
<br />OF SAID CITY AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas,
<br />provided an opportunity for all interested persons to be heard
<br />at a public hearing on October 13, 1980 on the annexation by the
<br />City of San Marcos, Texas of 266 acres of land, more or less, out
<br />of the J.M. Veramendi League and described hereinafter more partic-
<br />ularly; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, notice of said hearing was published in the San
<br />Marcos Daily Record, a newspaper having general circulation in said
<br />city and in the territory proposed to be annexed, on October 2,
<br />1980 a date not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10)
<br />days prior to said hearing; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, said 266 acre tract is located wi thin the extraterritorial jurisdic-
<br />tion of the City of San Marcos and not within -tlie extraterri torial jurisdiction of
<br />any other city; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, said contiguous tract is adjacent to the current
<br />boundaries of said city; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS,
<br />TEXAS:
<br />
<br />SECTION 1. That the following described property, approximately
<br />266 acres, more or less, adjoining the existing city limits of the
<br />City of San Marcos, Texas, out of the J.M. Veramendi League, to wit:
<br />
<br />BEGINNING at the intersection of the Southeast line
<br />of Interstate Highway No. 35 and the Northeast line
<br />of Redwood Road, same being a re-entrant corner of
<br />the existing City Limits of the City of San Marcos,
<br />for the most Northerly corner of the tract herein
<br />described, and being a Westerly corner of that tract
<br />of land conveyed to Isom Hale by Charles E. Blake,
<br />et aI, by deed dated March 23, 1973 and recorded in
<br />Volume 257, Page 493, Hays County Deed Records;
<br />
<br />THENCE, leaving the said Interstate Highway No. 35,
<br />in a Southeasterly direction with the Northeast line
<br />of Redwood Road, a Southwest line of the said existing
<br />City Limits, to the Southeast line of the said J.M.
<br />Veramendi League, same being the Northwest line of the
<br />Barnett O. Kane Survey, for the East corner of the
<br />tract herein described, being at the intersection of the
<br />Northeast line of Redwood Road with the projection of
<br />the Southeast line of that tract of land described in
<br />a Contract of Sale by and between the Veterans Land
<br />Board, State of Texas, and Charles J. Harris, dated
<br />February 17, 1962 and recorded in Volume 190, Page 130,
<br />Hays County Deed Records;
<br />
<br />THENCE, leaving the said Hale tract, in a Southwesterly
<br />direction with the said Veramendi-Kane Survey Line, the
<br />projection of and the Southeast line of the said Harris
<br />tract, crossing the said Redwood Road and joining the
<br />Southeast line of the said Harris tract, and continuing
<br />on to the South corner of the said Harris tract, for
<br />the South corner of the tract herein described;
