<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1980-51
<br />
<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ANNEXING TO SAID CITY A
<br />CONTIGUOUS 'I'RACT OF LAND CONTAINING 697 ACRES
<br />LOCATED WITHIN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDIC-
<br />TION OF SAID CITY AND LYING ADJACENT TO PRESENT
<br />CITY BOUNDARIES; EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS
<br />OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE SAID 697 ACRES;
<br />GRANTING TO THE INHABITANTS OF SAID 697 ACRES
<br />ALL THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS
<br />OF SAID CITY; BINDING SAID INHABITANTS BY ALL
<br />OF THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES, RULES AND REGULATIONS
<br />OF SAID CITY AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas,
<br />provided an opportunity for all interested persons to be heard
<br />at a public hearing on October 13, 1980 on the annexation by the
<br />City of San Marcos, Texas of 697 acres of land, more or less, out
<br />of the J.M. Veramendi League and described hereinafter more partic-
<br />ularly; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, notice of said hearing was published in the San Marcos
<br />Daily Record, a newspaper having general circulation in said city
<br />and in the territory proposed to be annexed, on October 2, 1980 a
<br />date not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior
<br />to said hearing; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, said 697 acre tract is located within the extraterrto-
<br />rial jurisdiction of the City of San Marcos and not within the
<br />extraterrtorial jurisdiction of any other city; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, said contiguous tract is adjacent to the current
<br />boundaries of said city; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS,
<br />TEXAS:
<br />
<br />SECTION 1. That the following described property, approximately
<br />697 acres, more or less, adjoining the existing city limits of the
<br />City of San Marcos, Texas, out of the J.M. Veramendi League, to wit:
<br />
<br />BEGINNING at a point on the Northwest line of the
<br />Missouri-Pacific Railroad at the South corner of
<br />Lot 17, City View Addition, a Subdivision of record
<br />in Volume 129, Page 359, Hays County Deed Records,
<br />for the most Easterly Northeast corner of the tract
<br />herein described, same being the most Easterly North-
<br />east corner of that: 182.31 acre tract of land con-
<br />veyed to W.C. Carson, et aI, by Robert G. Fourquerean
<br />by deed dated June 19, 1970 and recorded in Volume
<br />237, Page 321, Hays County Deed Records, and are-entrant
<br />corner of the existing City Limits;
<br />
<br />THENCE, in a Southwesterly direction with the North-
<br />west line of the said Missouri-Pacific Railroad, a
<br />Northwest line of the said existing City Limits, to
<br />its intersection with the Northeast line of Wonder
<br />World Drive (Redwood Road) ;
<br />
<br />THENCE, in a Southeasterly direction with the North-
<br />east line of Wonder World Drive (Redwood Road), cross-
<br />ing the said Missouri-Pacific and M.K.T. Railroads,
<br />to the Southeast line of the said M.K.T. Railroad;
<br />
<br />THENCE, in a Southwesterly direction, with the South-
<br />east line of the said M.K.T. Railroad, a Northwest
<br />line of the existing City Limits, to the most Southerly
<br />corner of the tract herein described, same being at
<br />the intersection of the Southeast line of the said
<br />H.K.T. Railroad with the projection of the Southeast
<br />line of that 81.43 acre tnact of land conveyed to W.A.
<br />Williams by Mattie K. Reynolds by deed dated February
<br />3, 1939 and recorded in Volume 118, Page 80, Hays
<br />County Deed Records;
