RESOLUTION 2012 -18R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A FEDERAL POLICY PROGRAM FOR <br />COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE TEXAS CONGRESSIONAL <br />DELEGATION ON ISSUES OF IMPORTANCE TO THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE <br />NECESSARY DOCUMENTS AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, finds that it is in <br />the City's best interest to express to the Texas Congressional Delegation matters <br />of importance to the people of San Marcos in the development of infrastructure, <br />transportation, public safety and protection of environmental resources in the <br />community. <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos, Texas, finds that the following programs <br />and projects should be brought to the attention of the Texas Congressional <br />Delegation as they consider federal funding opportunities and as they <br />communicate with federal agencies on programs of importance to the people of <br />San Marcos and the State of Texas, to include the City Council's continuing <br />support for: <br />1. Enhancing the safety and future development of San Marcos Municipal <br />Airport, including: <br />A. Continued Federal Aviation Administration funding for staffing for the <br />Air Traffic Control Tower constructed by the City of San Marcos in 2010 <br />and opened in 2011. <br />B. Acquisition of a Terminal Radar Display for safer air operations. <br />C. Designation of San Marcos Municipal Airport as an Airport of First <br />Landing for private aircraft by Homeland Security/ Customs to allow <br />private aircraft arriving from foreign countries to fly directly to San <br />Marcos Municipal Airport. <br />2. Important Public Safety programs including: <br />A. A Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant <br />for additional staffing through the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency. <br />B. Support for a Regional Tactical Command Center <br />
