CITY OF SAN MARCOS ELECTRIC RULES AND REGULATIONS <br />DEFINITIONS <br />City - The City of San Marcos. Texas and, in this context the San Marcos Electric Utility <br />("SMEU "). <br />Customer -Any person, partnership, corporation, municipality, governmental agency, <br />cooperative, or other entity receiving electric service from the City of San Marcos. <br />Connected Load -A customer's connected load is the sum of the continuous rated <br />capacities, or in the absence of such rated capacities, the maximum demand determined <br />by test where necessary, of all energy consuming devices on customer's premises, <br />expressed in kilowatts or horsepower. <br />Demand or Load -The load at the receiving terminals averaged over a specified interval <br />of time expressed in kilowatts or kilovolt- amperes. <br />Demand Charge -A char_>e for the kilowatts billed. <br />Energy Charge -A charge for the kilowatt -hours used. <br />Horsepower (HP) -The unit of mechanical power representing rate of consumption of <br />power and equivalent to 746 watts. <br />Kilowatt (kw) -The unit of electric power, representing the rate of consumption <br />equivalent to 1,000 volts. <br />Kilovolt- ampere (kVa) -The unit of electric power representing the rate of consumption <br />equivalent to one kilowatt at 100% power factor. <br />Kilowatt -hour (kWh) -The consumption of energy equivalent to the use of one kilowatt <br />for one hour. <br />Power Factor -The ratio of the kilowatts to the kilovolt- amperes. <br />Meter: means one or more mechanized automated or "SMART" meters, including an <br />auxiliary device that measures the power and energ -electric service to a customer at a <br />single point of delivery. <br />Month -The period between two successive monthly meter readings taken as nearly as <br />practicable, on the same day of each calendar month. <br />Point of Delivery -The point at which the customer's wiring and installation connect at a <br />single voltage with the facilities of the City or other part as arranged by the City. <br />Service. The availability of electric service to a retail Customer for any general use, <br />irrespective of whether any electric enemy is actually taken. The term "electric service," <br />is used in the broadest and most inclusive sense. and includes any and all acts done <br />
