<br />Chapter 2 <br /> <br />Sector Four Today <br /> <br />Community Facilities <br /> <br />Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service Protection <br />Sector Four is located in the Baker and David Police Patrol Districts. The San Marcos <br />Police Department Headquarters is located in Sector Four along IH-35, south of Wonder <br />World Drive. Fire protection in Sector Four is provided from the Broadway Street <br />Station on Broadway Street at the corner of Lockwood Drive. Emergency Medical <br />Service is provided by San Marcos/Hays County EMS. <br /> <br />Water and Wastewater Systems <br />Water and wastewater service throughout the city is provided by the City of San Marcos. <br />There are three large waterlines that serve Sector Four: One runs parallel to IH 35 from <br />Barnes Drive to Marshall, another runs from Arizona to Marshall, and the last runs along <br />Cheatham Street. The three main wastewater lines in Sector Four run along the east side <br />of C.M. Allen Parkway, another follows the Willow Springs Creek, and the last runs <br />parallel to Camacho Street and across from Lee Street. There are several major pumping <br />stations located in Sector Four: two are located on the northwest end of the sector near <br />the San Marcos River, another is located near the intersection of Guadalupe and <br />Cheatham streets, and the last stations are close to IH-35 near the San Marcos River. <br /> <br />Electric Service <br />Electric service is provided by the City of San Marcos. The extreme southwestern end of <br />the sector is served by Pedernales, a privately owned electric cooperative. <br /> <br />Solid Waste Collection <br />The City of San Marcos contracts with Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) to provide <br />residential garbage collection in the area. <br /> <br />Natural Gas <br />Entex, Inc., is the supplier of natural gas in San Marcos. <br /> <br />Telephone <br />Century Telephone of San Marcos, Inc. (CTSM) provides telephone servIce III San <br />Marcos and surrounding areas. <br /> <br />Cable Television <br />TCI Cablevision of Texas (TCI) offers cable television service to the San Marcos area. <br /> <br />Education <br />The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD) has one public <br />school located in Sector Four: The Bonham Early Childhood Center (pre-kindergarten) is <br />located on Guadalupe Street. <br /> <br />2-15 <br />
