<br />98. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 1999- 1 iLL R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH <br />GROUP ADMINISTRATORS-SAN ANTONIO, INC. FOR <br />EMPLOYEE HEALTH INSURANCE ADMINISTRATIVE <br />SERVICES; APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN <br />NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY FOR STOP LOSS <br />INSURANCE COVERAGE; APPROVING A CONTRACT <br />WITH FORTIS BENEFITS INSURANCE COMPANY FOR <br />EMPLOYEE LIFE INSURANCE AND RELATED INSURANCE <br />COVERAGE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City has solicited bids for the purchase of employee health insurance <br />and administrative services in IFB 99-045 <br /> <br />2. Group Administrators-San Antonio, Inc. has submitted the most <br />advantageous proposal for administrative services. <br /> <br />3. American National Insurance Company has submitted the lowest responsible <br />bid for stop loss insurance coverage. <br /> <br />4. Fortis Benefits Insurance Company has submitted the lowest responsible bid <br />for employee life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance and long term <br />disability insurance. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. The attached agreement between the City and Group Administrators-San <br />Antonio for employee health insurance administrative services is approved, subject to <br />renewal for four subsequent one-year periods. <br /> <br />PART 2. The placement of stop loss insurance coverage with the American <br />National Insurance Company is approved, and the City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, and the <br />City Attorney, Mark B. Taylor, are authorized to negotiate the terms of the stop loss <br />insurance contract with the American National Company. The contract will be for a one <br />year period, subject to renewal for four subsequent one-year periods. <br /> <br />PART 3. The attached contract between the City and Fortis Benefits Insurance <br />Company for employee life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance and <br />long term disability insurance is approved, subject to renewal for four one-year periods. <br /> <br />PART 4. The City Manager is authorized to execute the agreements described in <br />Parts 1,2 and 3 above. <br /> <br />PART 5.
