Travel expenses to TIFTech training <br /> <br />A library may be eligible for Program B if they meet ALL of the following criteria: <br /> <br />I. Has a functioning network (LAN or WAN) in the library or among the library buildings <br />2. Provides patron access to a public access library catalog through the network <br />3. With the addition of necessary software, hard\vare, and telecommunications, the public access library catalog <br />software can support an http or 239.50 connection to the Internet <br />4. By the end of the grant period, the public access library catalog shall be accessible over the Internet via hnp or <br />239.50 <br />5. Can continue to provide direct public access at a T-I or equivalent speed after the grant period ends <br /> <br />Program B (Direct Connection) <br /> <br />Eligible applicants are public libraries that have ISDN or direct (T-l or the equivalent) Internet access for the <br />general public. The purpose of this program is to allow libraries to enhance existing base-level Internet <br />connections for the public and to make their catalog available to the public via the Web or Z39.50 by funding tl <br />items listed below. A library must apply for Program A if the library does not have at minimum an <br />automated public access library catalog and the resources to sustain direct access after the grant period <br />ends. <br /> <br />Grams will not exceed S 1 00,000 for libraries that do not have branches. Libraries with branches may apply for up <br />to S 1 00,000 for the main library as well as up to $20,000 per each branch that does not meet the standards for <br />basic Internet connectivity, which is defined as having at minimum two public access Internet-accessible PCs with <br />a 333MHz or faster processor. Applicants having branches may disburse the total amount for which they are <br />eligible among the branches as they see fit. Program B applicants may not purchase more than 30 <br />workstations with TIF Board funds. <br /> <br />Program B applicants MUST provide, in matching funds, a minimum of 10% of the funds requested from <br />the TIF Board. This grant will fund the addition of necessary software, hardware, and telecommunications costs <br />to enable the public access library catalog software to support an hnp or Z39.50 connection to the Internet. By the <br />end of the grant period, the public access library catalog shall be accessible over the Internet via hnp or Z39.50. <br />Applicants may design a basic Internet package using TIF Board funds for the following: <br /> <br />") <br /> <br />I.
