Travel expenses to training and equipment specific training <br /> <br />Program B applicants may also choose to utilize TIF Board funds to provide equipment and appropriate interfaces <br />for distance learning so the public may take courses for credit in a location distant from where the courses <br />originate. For the purposes of this grant initiative, distance learning is defined as computer-based image video, <br />data, and voice technologies distributed by telecommunications technologies including the Internet. Applicants that <br />choose to apply for distance learning must currently have networked direct Internet access. Grant awards for <br />Program B are limited to 5100,000 for the main library and 520,000 for each branch. <br /> <br />Grantees will commit to: <br /> <br />· Providing public service locations for Internet access in the library <br />· Developing and implementing Internet Access policies <br />· Participating in project-related training <br />· Purchasing items from the TIF Board Configuration List. (See Appendix A) <br />· Assuming ongoing telecommunications, hardware, and software costs when TIFB-funded project is completed <br />· Program B applicants MUST be able to sustain a direct (T -lor faster) connection <br />· Program B applicants MUST provide in matching funds a minimum of 10% of the funds requested from <br />the TIF Board. The purpose of requiring matching funds is to increase sustainability and accountability, <br />encourage local corrunitment to the project, and encourage applicants to request only necessary resources. <br />Matching funds must be used for the expansion of or extension to the project, or for training. For example, <br />public libraries may choose to extend the project by purchasing additional workstations or other approved <br />related equipment using matching funds. Matching funds must be in the form of cash only; in-kind <br />contributions do not fulfill this requirement. In-kind contributions are defined as any goods or services donated <br />during the grant period by an outside entity not consisting of cash money. <br /> <br />In order to leverage TIF Board funds, increase community access, increase potential of future collaboration, and <br />increase project sustainability, the TIF Board encourages applicants to investigate joint venture opportunities with <br />other corrununity entities. Applicants are encouraged to contact school districts, community colleges, and not-for- <br />profit healthcare facilities in their area to extend their projects. <br /> <br />1 <br />..., <br />
