LIBRARY NARRATIVE-page 2

Ten Internet workstations will be set up in the library's Adult Learning Center as part of an Internet

training facility. When the training workstations are not in use for formal classes, they will be made

available to individuals who wish to do Internet research.

Our computer training facility will be equipped with a laptop computer for the instructor's use, a

digital projector, ten Internet workstations, computer tables and a networked laser printer. We will use

local funds to purchase the computer tables for the training room.

Weare confident of our ability to support the project and T -1 access beyond the period of the grant.

To date, the library has not relied on any grant funds to pay for T -1 access. The City of San Marcos has

paid all ongoing charges for our T-lline since it was installed in December 1998. Our current LB4

application also does not include grant funding for T-I monthly line charges. Our city government has

invested a great deal over the years to develop a strong technology infrastructure to serve the citizens of

our community. Dedicated, high-speed Internet access is considered an essential component of this

infrastructure.

page 7 or 27
