<br />SECTION 17. Notice of the election includ ing a Spanish translation thereof, shall <br />be published at least once in a newspaper published in San Marcos on or after April 2, <br />1998and on or before April 22,1998, and shall be posted on the bulletin board at City <br />Hall on or before April 16, 1998. <br /> <br />SECTION 18. A copy of this Ordinance shall be delivered on or before April 17, <br />1998 to the presiding judge of each election precinct in which the election is ordered <br />to be held, which copy shall serve as a notice or writ of election as required by the Texas <br />Election Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 19. Testing of the automatic tabulating equipment shall be performed <br />and notice thereof shall be given in accordance with Subchapter D of Chapter 127 of the <br />Texas Election Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 20. The rate of compensation to be paid judges, clerks, and assistants <br />to the Central Counting Station Presiding Judge and Tabulation Supervisor for services <br />rendered during the election is established at $6.00 per hour. <br /> <br />SECTION 21. The additional compensation to be paid judges who deliver retLirns <br />of the election is established at $25.00. <br /> <br />SECTION 22. A runoff election for the position of Mayor, City Council Member for <br />Place 1, and/or City Council Member for Place 2, if necessary, shall be held on Saturday, <br />May 30,1998. <br /> <br />SECTION 23. If any portion of this Ordinance is held invalid by a court of competent <br />jurisdiction, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. <br /> <br />SECTION 24. The importance of this Ordinance creates an emergency and an <br />imperative public necessity. and the provisions of the Charter requiring that ordinances be <br />presented at three separate meetings, and that ordinances do not take effect until ten (10) <br />days after the date of final passage are suspended, and this Ordinance will take effect upon <br />publication of notice of its adoption in a newspaper of general circulation in the City. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this the 9tlday of February, 1998. <br /> <br />t)~~.~ <br /> <br />Billy G.
