<br />1437 Old Post Road <br /> <br />SECTION 6. The City Council of the City shall adopt a resolution on or before <br />March 2, 1998, appointing presiding judges and alternate judges to serve in this election, <br />and it shall be each such judge's duty to hold the election in their respective precincts, and <br />any vacancies occurring after the initial appointment may be filled by subsequent <br />resolution(s) of the City Council. <br /> <br />SECTION 7. Each presiding judge may appoint up to two (2) clerks, and with the <br />permission of the City Secretary, additional clerks, to serve for each precinct in this <br />election. <br /> <br />SECTION 8. The City election shall be conducted jointly with the School District <br />election under the terms and conditions of a Joint Election Agreement. <br /> <br />SECTION 9. Janis K. Womack is appointed clerk for early voting for the City. <br /> <br />SECTION 10. The main early polling place for early voting by personal <br />appearance for the City election is City Hall, 630 East Hopkins Street in the City, and the <br />temporary branch early polling place for early voting by personal appearance for the City <br />election is the School Administration Building, 501 S. L.B.J. Drive. Early voting by <br />personal appearance shall be conducted during normal working days in the City Hall and <br />the School Administration Building from April 15, 1998 through April 28, 1998, and the <br />hours for early voting shall be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A temporary branch early polling <br />place for early voting by personal appearance for the City election is established at the <br />following location, with voting to be conducted at the dates and times indicated: <br /> <br />SWTSU-Catholic Student <br />Center <br />100 Concho Street <br /> <br />April 22 & April 23, <br />1998 <br /> <br />8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />SECTION 11. Early voting by mail ballot shall be conducted in accordance with <br />applicable provisions of the Texas Election Code. The address of 630 East Hopkins, <br />San Marcos, Texas, 78666, shall be the early voting clerk's mailing address to which ballot <br />applications and ballots voted by mail may be sent for the City. <br /> <br />SECTION 12. All early votes and other votes to be processed in accordance with <br />early voting procedures pursuant to the Texas Election Code shall be delivered to the <br />Early Voting Ballot Board at the City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins in accordance with the Election <br />Code. Early votes shall be counted at the central counting station. The Early Voting Ballot <br />Board shall perform in accordance with applicable provisions of the Election Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 13. An electronic voting system, as the term is defined in the Texas <br />Election Code, shall be utilized in connection with the election. This system shall be <br />utilized for all early voting as well as for all precinct voting conducted on election day. <br />Ramona Brown is appointed as programmer, and she shall prepare a program for the <br />automatic tabulating equipment. Ample voting equipment shall be provided for early <br />voting and in each of the various precincts on election day. The central counting station <br />is established as the office of the City Attorney, San Marcos City Hall, 630 East Hopkins. <br /> <br />SECTION 14. The City Council of the City shall, by resolution, appoint the Early <br />Voting Ballot Board, a Presiding Judge of the Central Counting Station, a Tabulation <br />Supervisor of the Central Counting Station, and a Central Counting Station Manager, and <br />any and all assistants appointed by the Presiding Judge and Tabulation Supervisor shall <br />be subject to the approval of the City Council. <br /> <br />SECTION 15. The election shall be held under, and in accordance with the <br />provisions of, the Charter and Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, and in accordance <br />with the laws of the State of Texas. <br /> <br />SECTION 16. An executed copy of this Ordinance shall serve as proper notice of <br />the election. <br />
