<br />Hay,; (Iilllll\ <br /> <br />,~~t~Jt un <br /> <br />11988 where critical facilities are protected to the 500-year (0.2% annual chance flood event) <br />elevation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mitigation Action F-7 - Update floodplain mapping (DFIRM's) and HAZUS mapping <br />identifies hazard areas, improves public awareness, reduces the risk of loss of life, and new <br />buildings and infrastructure have a reduced risk of damage during a flood event. <br /> <br />Mitigation Action F-8 - By increasing training for local floodplain managers and CFM's there <br />should be improved local floodplain management programs, reduced risk of loss of life, and <br />new buildings and infrastructure have a reduced risk of damage during a flood event. <br /> <br />Mitigation Action F-9 - By increasing the number of CRS Communities in Hays County there <br />should be improved local floodplain management programs, reduced risk of loss of life, and <br />new buildings and infrastructure have a reduced risk of damage during a flood event. <br /> <br />Mitigation Actions E-I through E-5 improve emergency response and recovery to save lives <br />and reduce damage to both existing and future structures. <br /> <br />Mitigation Action E-l - By improving emergency warning Hays County and participating <br />communities can respond faster to save lives and reduce property damage during disaster <br />events. <br /> <br />Mitigation Action E-2 - By improving emergency communications Hays County and <br />participating communities can respond faster and coordinate better to save lives and reduce <br />property damage during disaster events. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mitigation Action E-3 - By increasing emergency staff Hays County and partIcIpating <br />communities can adequately staff systems like 911, fire departments, and sheriff and police <br />departments to save lives and reduce property damage during disaster events. <br /> <br />Mitigation Action E-4 - Development of and maintenance of countywide and individual <br />community HAZMAP Plans. Creation of a Mitigation Plan is only the start. The Mitigation <br />Plan needs to be implemented, monitored and reviewed/updated annually. Fully implemented <br />Mitigation Plans will inform the public, train and equip emergency responders, mitigate <br />hazards and ultimately result in reduction of risks to both existing and future buildings. <br /> <br />Mitigation Action E-5 - Storm Ready is a proven mitigation action.
