Improve Flood Warning in Hays County. <br /> <br />[Utilizing funding available from the Hurricane Rita Recovery effort, Hays County submitted <br />an HMGP application to the Governor's Division of Emergency Management (TxDEM) for <br />funding for this mitigation action.] <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />This Action Item is to identify sites where stream and rain gauges and flood warning for the <br />fourteen (14) High Hazard dams is needed in Hays County and coordinate installation requests <br />with the USGS, GBRA and NWS. The Hays County Mitigation Planning Committee <br />recommends to relocate or raise the BIanco River gauge at Kyle because this gauge is <br />inundated during high water events. <br /> <br />Based on information from GBRA and USGS, there are only 3 existing USGS gauges located <br />in Hays County: <br /> <br />BIanco River Gauge at Wimberley (] 928 - 2003) <br /> <br />Flood Stage: 13.00 ft (810.23 ft msl) <br />Historic High: 33.30 ft (830,53 ft msl) on May 28, 1929 <br />Datum: 797.23 ft msl <br /> <br />Blanco River Gauge near Kvle (] 956-2003) <br /> <br />Historic High: 38.0 ft (658.12 ft msl) on September 11, 1952 <br />Datum: 620.12 ft msl <br /> <br />San Marcos River Gauge at San Marcos (] 995-2003) <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Historic High: 21.29 ft (578.96 msl) on October 17, ] 998 (21,500 cfs) <br />Datum: 557.67 ft msl <br /> <br />Ha)'s Count)', Texas <br />Mitigation Plan <br /> <br />126 <br />
