Reference - GBRA Flood Tracking Chart Guadalupe River Basin, Texas. <br /> <br />The City of San Marcos website www.ci.san-marcos.tx.us contains rain and weather <br />surveillance information which is updated in 5 minute intervals. <br /> <br />The Edwards Aquifer Authority operates seven (7) rain gauges in Hays County and the <br />National Weather Service (NWS) monitors rain gauges in Hays County <br /> <br />The estimated installation cost for a stream gauge meeting USGS and GBRA criteria IS <br />$20,000 with an estimated monthly maintenance cost of $ 1,000. <br /> <br />The City of San Marcos installed flood gauges and flood warning systems on all dams adjacent <br />to the City however high maintenance costs and computer software changes resulted in <br />termination of the flood monitoring system.
