Development of and maintenance of countywide and individual community
HAZMAP Plans.

Hays County and participating communities initiated a countywide planning effort to develop
and formally adopt HAZMAP plans prior to the November 2004 deadline established by the
Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. A Draft Plan was submitted prior to the initial DMA 2000
deadline. Procedures are included in Section 8 to conduct annual plan reviews and updates to
maintain countywide and individual community HAZMAP plans. This Mitigation Action is to
maintain the HAZMAP by conducting annual reviews and plan updates; provide annual
training opportunities for community emergency managers to assist in the planning and plan
maintenance efforts; and to create and maintain multi-jurisdictional HAZMAP databases and
GIS mapping to support countywide and individual community HAZMAP maintenance
efforts.

The Hays County Mitigation Plan was prepared so each incorporated jurisdiction can formally
adopt and implement the Plan. This mitigation action is to assist those communities that may
not formally adopt the initial Plan but may chose to do so during the annual plan review
process. Annual plan reviews will be coordinated with the Governor's Division of Emergency
Management (TxDEM) for the planned 5-year Plan life. This action item includes assistance
with the 5-year Plan review and update that is required by TxDEM, FEMA, LCRA, GBRA and
others.

I

Responsibility:

Cost:

I

Funding Sources:

Hays County (Lead)
City of San Marcos (Technical support and adopt upgrades)
Village of Bear Creek (cooperate and adopt updates)
City of Buda (cooperate and adopt updates)
City of Dripping Springs (cooperate and adopt updates)
City of Hays (cooperate and adopt updates)
City of Kyle (cooperate and adopt updates)
City of Mountain City (cooperate and adopt updates)
City of Niederwald (cooperate and adopt updates)
Township of Uhland (cooperate and adopt updates)
Village of Wimberley (cooperate and adopt updates)
City of Wood creek (cooperate and adopt updates)

Staff Time under cun-ent budgets

Governor's Division of Emergency Management (ifrequired)
FEMA

Ha)'s Count)', Texas
Miligation Plan

l34
