On January 28, 2004 a Press Release notice was placed on the Hays <br />County website and published in the San Marcos Daily Record announcing a public meeting to <br />discuss the Mitigation Plan. The public meeting was held on February 17, 2004 at 6:30 PM in <br />the Hays County Commissioners Court Room at the Hays County Courthouse. <br /> <br />During the early phase of the planning process, outside organizations, "Other Agencies" and <br />adjacent communities were invited to participate in the planning effort. A letter notifying <br />"Other Agencies" regarding the initiation of the Hays County Mitigation Plan was mailed June <br />23,2003. The "Other Agencies" and organizations contacted were: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Capital Area Planning Council (CAPCQ) <br />Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) <br />Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) <br />Texas Colorado River Floodplain Coalition (TCRFC) <br />Edwards Aquifer Authority <br />Upper San Marcos Watershed Reclamation and Flood Control District <br />U.S Anny Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District (USACOE) <br />Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) <br />Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) <br />Governor's Division of Emergency Management (TxDEM), Austin and Waco Offices <br />Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) <br />Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) -Austin District (TxDOT) <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency Region VI (FEMA) <br />Insurance Services Office (ISO) <br />Texas Historical Commission <br />Texas State University (fonnerly Southwest Texas State University) <br />Caldwell County <br />Comal County <br />Travis County <br />City of Austin <br />Blanco County <br />Guadalupe County <br /> <br />During the planning process, copies of the draft plan were submitted to the "Other Agencies" <br />and organizations for review and comment. <br /> <br />Written comments were received from the following "other agencies": <br /> <br />Guadalupe Blanco River Authority <br />Texas Historical Commission <br />Governor's Division of Emergency Management <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />In developing the Mitigation Plan, the committee identified numerous hazards that the Hays <br />County communities are subject to. Each hazard is discussed in this planning document. Of all <br />of the hazards identified, the most common hazard events to affect the area were detennined to <br />be flooding events.
